Solid silence – a meditative space shaped by light, rhythm, and brick
As part of the "Structural Engineering – Solid Construction" course, the focus was on exploring structural principles in building. As a design-structural exercise, a form was developed composed exclusively of brick. The goal was to transform the constructive rigidity and massiveness of brick through precise form-finding and to explore new spatial qualities.
The design thrives on the interplay of mass and light: rhythmically arranged bricks open and close the space, creating depth, shadow, and a contemplative effect. The vertical orientation emphasizes retreat and stillness – a primal form situated in the tension between construction and spatial perception.
